Integrative Veterinary Medicine
Integrative Veterinary Medicine incorporates conventional veterinary medicine, with which you are familiar, with other types of veterinary medicine you may never have heard of or considered.
Dr. Kim practices “Integrative Veterinary Medicine.” This means that she incorporates Acupuncture, traditional Chinese herbal medicine and Veterinary Medical Manipulation (VMM) which is animal chiropractic care, into her patient care as needed and desired by the client. She has received certifications in both Acupuncture and VMM. After the initial consultation is done with Dr. Kim, she can make recommendations that are best suited for your pet which may include one or more of these forms of treatment.
What is an example of integrative veterinary medicine? Let’s say one of our doctors examines your dog and determines that he is suffering from arthritis. Your dog may be treated with oral pain medication, and you also could choose to have Dr. Kim treat your dog with Acupuncture. In this example, oral pain medication, which is a conventional medicine, can be complemented with Acupuncture which is a non-conventional medicine. By using both modalities, we can produce more profound results in treating arthritic pain and discomfort and elevate the animal’s quality of life.
The most common situations in which integrative medicine can help your pet are the following:
There may be other conditions or diseases that would benefit from receiving the multi-pronged approach offered by Integrative Veterinary Medicine, so if you fear your pet may be in pain or could benefit from discussing a condition with Dr. Kim, don’t hesitate to ask us!
